Dear members and friends,

¡Saludos!

If you have not done so already, please nominate a deserving individual or company in one or more categories for our 5th Annual Business Awards Holiday Gala! The nomination link is here: bit.ly/2017-Business-Excellence-Awards-Nomination. Also, please make sure you take advantage of our Early Bird Gala ticket price, which will only be available until December 15th: bit.ly/MDHCC-GALA-2018.

Our Gala this year is bigger, better and brighter. The highly anticipated event will take place at the Belvedere Hotel in Baltimore and will include a cocktail reception, a VIP cocktail reception at the 13th floor (both with complimentary hors d’oeuvres) Baltimore Mayor Catherine Pugh as the Keynote Speaker, the Business Excellence Awards ceremony, a delicious 3-course dinner, dancing and celebration. Plus, this year tickets include an open beer & wine bar from beginning to end.

In other news, we are actively working together with a coalition of Maryland chambers to fight the Veto overturn for HB1. HB1 will be very harmful, especially for small and family businesses. It will also cause disruption in businesses that already have established leave policies since they will have to be in compliance. The MD Chamber Executive Advisory Council, of which we are part, will be releasing more information as the session draws near that focuses on educating small business owners on the effects of the bill and what you can do to help defeat the veto overturn. Our Government Affairs Committee is leading this charge as well as our legislative agenda. If you would like to be part of this committee, please contact our Government Affairs Committee Chair, Katie Nash, at knash@greenwillgroup.com.

Similarly, as we continue to grow and expand into the Greater Baltimore Region and the Capitol Region, the MDHCC is looking for committed leaders to help steer our committees. If you are interested in learning more getting involved, please visit www.MDHCC.org and click on the About US -> Committees Menu.

We wish you a very successful last month of the year and a great holiday season!

Onward!
