Senior Project Manager, The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company


Carlos resides in Maryland with his wife and three sons, and works as a Senior Project Manager for The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company. He values the opportunity within that role to improve Whiting-Turner’s relationships with Hispanic businesses and clients.  Now as part of the Board of MDHCC he hopes to advance the business development and career opportunities of the local Hispanic community. A Maryland resident for 20 years, he nonetheless stays true to his roots in Guadalajara, Mexico, avidly supporting the Chivas de Guadalajara.




What is the focus of The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company?

Whiting-Turner’s focus is best described by our mission statement:

What has this year been like?

It has been a great year so far for our active projects, and we look forward to our upcoming work starting later this year.

What business and leadership advice can you give our members?

That we best accomplish our personal and collective business goals by practicing collaboration and mutual respect with our business partners.

What inspires you?

The dedication and hard work that individuals at our projects, both from Whiting-Turner and our business partners, demonstrate every single day.  Without them, none of what we do would be possible.

Who is your mentor?

Dr. Calvin Young, my English professor in high school, who taught me to never settle for “good enough.”

What is your favorite Spanish author and why? 

Cervantes – his contributions to Spanish literature and the Spanish language are unparalleled, even after almost 500 years.
