Over 10,000 Attendees at Telemundo Washington DC’s Fiesta de las Madres

Sunday's spectacular celebration included a Nissan Versa 2016 giveaway

Telemundo Washington DC's eighth annual Fiesta de las Madres welcomed over 10,000 attendees this past Sunday, May 15 in downtown Silver Spring, MD. The unique community expo, designed to honor women and mothers, included free health screenings, live music, entertainment, and activities for the entire family. The celebration kicked-off with a ribbon cutting ceremony with the participation of  Montgomery County Council Members Nancy Navarro and George Leventhal, Governor's Office of Community Initiatives Executive Director Steve McAdams, along with Maryland Attorney General Brian Frosh who delivered remarks to the audience. 
Event attendees enjoyed the presence of Telemundo actors Erika de la Rosa from 8pm hit Eva La Trailera and Jorge Luis Moreno from the highly-rated 10pm super series El Señor de los Cielos. The team from Telenoticias Washington was also on site taking pictures with the audience and hosting a variety of contests on stage. Entertainment included performances by Ocho de Bastos, a children's self-defense demonstration by Pugarita Karate Do, Banda el Pulgarcito, Mexican Dance Ensemble Los Quetzales and A Banda Show among others. For the second time, the event concluded with a DARCARS Nissan giveaway. Jorge Vargas of Wheaton, Maryland drove away with a Nissan Versa 2016!
