Maryland Hispanic Chamber of Commerce will Sponsor, help Judge,
EnterpRISE Venture Competition by Open Works

Baltimore, MD—August 22, 2017—The Maryland Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (MDHCC), the leading chamber of commerce representing and connecting over 54,000 Hispanic-owned businesses in the region, proudly commenced a new partnership with Open Works, Baltimore’s premiere center for creative development, and offers its full support for Open Works’ new EnterpRISE Venture Competition. Those who are makers, have a great product idea, or have come up with a revolutionary manufacturing process are encouraged to apply before Friday September 8, 2017 at http://www.openworksbmore.com/enterprise/.

“Open Works was very interested in truly opening their doors to a growing and diverse community of makers, especially, for this important competition,” said MHDCC’s Chairman & President, Jorge E. Castillo. “And that meant having a trusted partner that would serve as the bridge to the flourishing Hispanic business community of makers.” Enter the Maryland Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

EnterpRISE, Open Works’ newest initiative, is more than just a business pitch contest. It provides its winners with cash prizes (over $18,000), membership to Open Works and six weeks of a business boot camp complete with mentoring and workshops. The MDHCC will be helping Open Works reach makers within the Hispanic business community and Jorge E. Castillo will serve as a judge for the EnterpRISE Venture Competition.

Will Holman, Open Work’s Executive Director and the creative force behind EnterpRISE, explained, "Open Works is here to rebuild Baltimore's manufacturing economy from the grassroots up. We are so excited to get the next generation of innovators the support they need to succeed and that starts with putting money and membership on the line so anyone can get their foot in the door."

Fittingly, Open Works will serve as the venue for MDHCC’s inaugural Greater Baltimore Regional Chapter (GBRC) launch on September 21st. “We look forward to contributing to the EnterpRISE Venture Competition and to a continued and strong partnership with Open Works in the Baltimore Region and beyond,” added Castillo.
