Javier Von Westphalen, CEO at Emergent Element

Javier is an award-winning bilingual marketing and management professional that combines his leadership development, marketing, consumer insight with innovation thinking to guide his clients to higher levels of success.

What is the focus of Emergent Element?

At Emergent Element, we help executives to innovate, understand Latino consumers, and devise relevant strategies so they can create new markets, expand existing ones, grow profits and make a social impact.

Why did you decide to start Emergent Element?

Ideas in motion for positive impact is our mantra; it summarizes what we are all about. Brands and companies can do more than sell products, services, and experiences. They can make an impact in the world. Our purpose is to inspire change, and improve the people’s quality of life. We practice a creative approach to solve problems by understanding primary audience and arrive at new solutions that are culturally relevant.

Who are your clients?

We work with government agencies such as the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), non-profit, marketing communication agencies, and brands with a purpose.

What has this year been like?

It was an intense, challenging, successful and rewarding year. We are proud to have worked with the CDC and partners for the last two years on the Zika Readiness Campaign to bring awareness and behavioral change to Puerto Ricans living in the island and U.S Latinos. The icing on the cake is receiving this year a PRNews Platinum Award honorary mention from the work we have done.

What inspires you?

Dreams and purpose. Dreams are uncensored and unedited stories full of hope and potential to be the next chapter of someone’s life. Purpose provides meaning to dreams. Why? Walt Disney said it better, “It’s kind of fun to do the impossible.”

Bachata, Merengue or Salsa?

Merengue and Salsa

Café…con leche y azucar or black?

– I love café and usually get a latte or cappuccino, however, nothing beats a good Cortadito.

Any other fun fact about you or your business.

- Travel, food, and movies.
