Maryland Chamber of Commerce to host rally and press conference on Lawyers’ Mall

WHAT: Press conference and rally in support of Maryland’s employers and their employees. Topics include:

  • The effect of layering mandates and policies on health care, minimum wage, mandatory maid leave, restrictive scheduling and other regulations that kill jobs
  • Why jobs that go away under these mandates will not come back
  • Why employers need time before state lawmakers add yet another series of mandates

WHEN: Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2018, 10 a.m.

WHERE: Lawyers’ Mall, Annapolis

WHO: Members and partners of the Maryland Chamber of Commerce, including the National Federation of Independent Businesses (NFIB), Maryland Retailers Association (MRA), Maryland Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (MDHCC), and chambers from all over the state, as well as individual business leaders.
Speakers include:
Larry Richardson, VP for Government Affairs, Maryland Chamber
Mike O’Halloran, President, NFIB
Cailey Locklair-Tolle, President, MRA
Jorge Eduardo Castillo, President, MDHCC

WHY: Legislators are back at work, and already planning a number of bills that will damage Maryland’s competitiveness by making it more difficult to open and stay in business here. Employers across the state want to make Maryland better for everyone by making it better for business, and need legislators and Marylanders to understand how.

The Maryland Chamber of Commerce
connects business leaders and policymakers across the state. With extensive resources, advocacy and network-building, we work to make Maryland more business-friendly and nationally competitive.

The Maryland Hispanic Chamber of Commerce promotes the establishment, growth, prosperity and retention of Hispanic businesses, and those entities, and persons that support them in the State of Maryland.
